NTSE- Complete Information

NTSE: The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) stands as a distinguished and highly competitive assessment organized by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) nationwide. Its primary purpose is to identify exceptional students across the country and grant them scholarships.

The National Talent Search Examination consists of two major stages:

Stage 1 (State Level)
Stage 2 (National Level).

Students undergo evaluations in mental ability, language proficiency, mathematics, science, and social studies. It’s important to note that qualifying in stage 1 enables students to partake in the stage 2 examination, typically held in May. Successful candidates are awarded scholarships amounting to Rs. 1250/- per month during their class 11 and 12 studies.

Benefit of NTSE Scholarship

Students of class 9th can take significant benefits from the National Talent Search Examination to relieve the financial burden of education fees by getting scholarships for your Class 11th and 12th academic year. Also, students will get top priority preference during getting admission to leading Engineering, Medical & Defence Academy or Colleges. Those students who cleared the NTSE will get ₹1250/- monthly for 11th and 12th Class and ₹2000/- monthly for colleges provided by the Indian Government.

Eligibility Criteria For NTSE

The National Talent Search Examination mainly conducted in two stages and the NTSE exam based on SAT (Scholastic Ability Test) and MAT ( Mental Ability Test). Students have to fulfill below mention criteria to get eligible for NTSE

The Key to NTSE Participation:

Indian Citizenship	The NTSE is open to Indian students studying in recognized schools across the country, including those studying abroad.
Academic Requiremnets	To be eligible for the NTSE, students must be enrolled in Class X in a recognized school or education board. This criterion emphasizes the importance of a solid foundation of knowledge and skills
Age Limit	While age may be just a number, for NTSE eligibility, it plays a defining role. As per the guidelines, students must be below the age of 18 years as of July 1st of the particular year of examination. This ensures a level playing field for all aspirants.
Educational Institution	Another crucial aspect is the school in which the student is enrolled. Only students studying in recognized schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Sainik Schools, are eligible for the NTSE. It is essential to confirm that your educational institution meets this requirement.
Academic Performance	Academic excellence is highly regarded in the NTSE selection process. Students must secure a minimum of 60% marks in their previous class’s annual examination to be eligible for the NTSE Stage 1 examination conducted at the state/union territory level. However, different states/union territories may have their own specific requirements, so it is advisable to check the respective state/union territory’s guidelines.
Exemption for SC/ST/PH	Inclusive in nature, the NTSE also offers certain relaxations for students belonging to the SC/ST/PH (Physically Handicapped) categories. These students need to score a minimum of 55% marks in their previous class’s annual examination to be eligible for the Stage 1 examination.

Students will be eligible for stage 2 criteria only after clearing the stage 1 for the National Talent Search Examination.

Reservation For NTSE

The National Council of Education Research and Training has reserved a certain percentage for underprivileged students to get scholarships in NTSE.

15% for SC Category
7.5 % for ST Category
27% for OBC Category
3% for Physically Challenged (Divyaang)

Exam Pattern of NTSE

The Mental Ability Test (MAT) evaluates your logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
