JEE Main 2023: Recently the National Testing Agency announced the JEE Main 2023 Exam dates and released the JEE Main 2023 Eligibility criteria on their official site jeemain.nta.nic.in/eligibility-criteria. 

Candidates should thoroughly review the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.

Age Criteria For JEE Main 2023 Exam

Just like the previous year, there is no age limit for the joint entrance exam 2023 candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) – 2023 examination. Candidates must fulfill their desired institute age criteria for admission after clearing the JEE exam 2023.

    List of Qualifying Examination
  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
  • Candidates who have completed the Class 12 (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class 12 Examination.
  • In case the Class 12 Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

    Major Changes in JEE Main 2023 Eligibility Criteria

    This year the National Testing Agency (NTA) has implemented a condition for admission at IITs, NITs, and CFTIs.

    All the candidates who want to appear for JEE (Main) 2023 examination must secure 75% marks and for reserved categories (SC, ST) candidates must secure 65% marks to get their desired admission in all the 23 Indian Institue of Information Technology (IIT), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other Centrally funded technologies Institutions (CFTIs). All admission to the IITs, NIT, and CFTIs is given after  JoSAA & CSAB counseling.

    The NTA implemented the condition of Class 12 marks requirement just like the pre-covid rule. The education minister gave relaxation in 2020 for JEE admission by removing the 75% marking category due to the closure of schools during the pandemic. Now after everything is settled the board announced again the class 12 marks requirement.
