Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2022: "It Just Says Click and the molecules are coupled together"

The three scientists who won the Nobel prize in chemistry 2022 are, Carolyn R. Bertozzi, from Standford University, CA, USA, Morten Meldal from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and K Barry Sharpless from Scripps Research, La Jolla, CA, the USA will receive Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2022 by  The Royal Swedish Academy for development of Click Chemistry and Bioorthogonal Chemistry.

“It Just Says Click” and the molecules are coupled together is a great development in the history of Science and Chemistry in which the molecular building blocks pop together very quickly and efficiently. Ms.Carolyn R. Berozzi also started utilizing the click chemistry on living organisms to expand its useability.

The press release on nobelprize.org  where the Chair of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry Mr.Johan Aqvist says “This year’s Prize in Chemistry deals with not overcomplicating matters, instead working with what is easy and simple. Functional molecules can be built even by taking a straightforward route”

What is Click Chemistry?

Click Chemistry is a reaction between the bioconjugation of specific biomolecules that allows a way of generating products that follow examples in nature.  The development of click chemistry now has widespread use in pharmaceuticals for mapping DNA and creating medicines and vaccines. The click chemistry is also tested for curing cancer which is now being tested in clinical trials. For a reference watch a 3D video of click chemistry designed by –Nymus 3D.

The Nobel prize will be shared with these three scientists:

Carolyn R. Bertozzi, born 1966 in USA. Ph.D. 1993 from UC Berkeley, CA, USA. Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor at Stanford University, CA, USA.

Morten Meldal, born 1954 in Denmark. Ph.D. 1986 from Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, Denmark. Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

K. Barry Sharpless was born in 1941 in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Ph.D. 1968 from Stanford University, CA, USA. W. M. Keck Professor at Scripps Research, La Jolla, CA, USA.
